Hey Coz,

I told you there are no Canadian pussies. Especially not Wayne. He drove 12 hours in the pouring rain to make it to Pocono last year.

And 12 of use drove thru the rain to make it Kingston a few weeks ago for the 1st Great Canadian Pantera meet. We Canucks know how to live - well, six months a year, anyhow. The other six months we dream of summer.
Damm Deed....
13 of you actually drove your cars in the rain ????? Oh my God !!!!

How many of them melted ? What a mess that must of been... Big Grin

It's really great to hear that Wayne won best of show. It's actually amazing. Best of show is usually reserved for the Pantera that someone spent 100,000.00+ on and only drives or trailers it to a car show and the rest of the time it sits in a garage. It's nice to hear that there were some judges and voters out there that can see more into someones Pantera other than the money spent by writing checks to feed an ego to say mine is better than yours. Most of these people don't even know what a wrench is let alone how to actually turn one.

Wish I could say that about the Pantera owners here. We have drivable weather pretty much 10 months a year and getting them out to do anything as a group is a joke, unless it's a car show or a once a month meeting. Then all they do is sit around in a circle jerk and talk the same old BS. Boring as can be. I don't waste my time anymore with local car shows or meetings for the most part. To clicky and a waste of time for my taste.

Most here, not all, but most, are just desert pussies....Oh it's too hot, oh it's too cold, oh it looks like rain, Bla, Bla, Bla.

But hey, to each his own...that's what makes the world go round. I bought my car to drive as well, not just talk about it as so many do.

You're lucky to have the group of guys you have there....

Coz,
I have to agree(glad somebody has the balls to say it), made time to attend the monthly meeting last Wedensday, 25 members in attendance, 2 Pantera showed. Needless to say, I'm done with the circle jerk, that was my last meeting!
Not saying I'd drive cross country in 6808(she really isn't a great touring car)but I did build what I think is a show car, and I intend to drive her like I stole her!I really do too!

Mark 6808
Real proud of you and your cat,Wayne, very sad for Coz and Mark 6808. It's a little over 2 years we bought 6145 and Lena and I have been putting the miles on it and enjoying every minute. By doing that I must admit we have met a great deal of people which today are called our friends and enjoy each others company and spread the word on our fabulous car. It's a shame that so many buy them to have them sit in their garage instead of letting others see a work of art. Lena and I are already looking forward to spring to go and meet with our friends in Pocono and hopefully this time we wont be alone from Canada to go. Rob6145

At least your doing with what the car was intended for. Good for you Rob, wish there was more like you.
I too have met a lot of wonderful people that have become very dear friends. Those are the one's I hang with and do things with.
The rest can have their rocking chairs and garage queens.

Mark, you should head north and join up with us.

Informal and infrequent is the key to success. We have so little time to enjoy the cars that when we do meet, we have so much to talk about and check out that there's no time left to bitch. I guess the California climate does have a down-side. Not that I wouldn't be eager to trade white snow-covered trees for anything warmer in mid-February... Big Grin

Mark C
What's funny is most bitch that's there's never anything to do event wise, then when something comes up, no one wants to participate.

Or they bitch about how things are done and never step up to do anything.

It's a joke.

Funny thing about this conversation, I never really said anything due to peoples feelings ( yes, I'm a nice guy), Before I bought my car I went to some POCA meetings and everything your saying is so very true. Always bitching about something or talking about the way it used to be ??? It did not do anything for me. Kinda boring. I have not been to a meeting in sometime, Maybe I missed the good meetings, maybe its diff. now ??? I would rather go for a fast drive or hit a local track where some sort of racing is going on. Car shows can be cool and lots of fun if its the right show. The big thing has always been POCA,,,????? OK, maybe the new big thing is Pantera International Eeker ooopps,, did I say that out loud Roll Eyes

Hey guys it does not matter what you do, whether meetings, car shows, track events, runs, get togethers, etc., etc., You will find the same thing going on. It is human nature going on. I personally go to almost all the meetings, (and drive my car to the meetings every chance I get), I go to car shows, track events, in fact just about anything that I get a chance to drive and show off my car (that I love!), I will go to despite my very busy work schedule. I believe that you get out of something about equal to what you put into it. I know that there will always be people that are like sticks in the mud and will not drive their cars, but there are others who will drive their cars and participate and need you to be there to help make these things fun! There is a very simple theory which says you are either part of the problem or part of the solution. all of us that are realizing that there is a problem need to ask ourselves that question, so that we can change things for the better. I have never seen things improve by people deciding to quit participating. the truth of the matter is that the biggest part to fixing something is to first realize there is a problem, you guys have already done that, so how about helping out the rest of us,to fix the problem. We need guys like you, that love these cars and love to drive them. Without your help this problem will only get worse.
For the most part what your saying is very true Kevin. However, you know me and you know how much I've been involved throughout the years. As the POCA raffle coordinator for the annual convention in Las Vegas for the last 2 years and the 3rd year coming up, as past VP of the Arizona chapter of POCA and my continued involvement with PI. You also know I have tried to coordinate events and have been to several meetings. Nothing changes, it's always the same old BS. A mini car show in the parking lot, lots of bitching, clicky and boring. Which is why many of us have stopped coming to the meetings, car shows and other get togethers.
You and I have had this conversation a few times before. I know how hard you work and as dedicated you are as President of the Arizona Chapter of POCA and how dedicated you are in bringing people together, organize things to do and stop all this from happening. But it still happens and there's not really much you're going to do to change it. People have to want to change, and most of these people will never change. That's just the generation they come from. They can choose to stay where their at or they can choose to help make a change. They've choosen to say where their at and many of us choose to move forward with other things. You can only get slapped in the face so many times before you realize that it's just not worth it and a waste of time. I have nothing but respect for you Kevin as a person and what you're always trying to do, what amazes me is how long you've continue to do it.
Case in point, I heard the Pantera turnout at the Sanderson show was terrible. How many Pantera's were there ?
Personally, I didn't buy and drive my car to belong to a club, go to car shows or events. I bought & drive my car for myself. While it's nice to take drives with a group of them, I get just as much enjoyment if not more out of driving my car by myself without the BS that seems to go along with most clubs. Whether it's a Pantera club, a Ferrari or Porsche club. I have nothing to prove to anyone but myself, nor do I have to be part of any club or be accepted by any group to be called worthy of being a Pantera owner.
Your a great guy Kevin and I have a lot of respect for you, but you yourself know that's the way it is and never said out loud.
Now it's being said and discussed in the open........and maybe this will help bring about the change that's needed.

Everything you guys are saying here rings true. From my perspective, the moment a bunch of people with the same hobby try to turn it into an Association with a hierarchy and administration is often when it stops being as much fun and becomes more like work. It's also where some of the biggest benefits can come as well. You get nice publications, well-organized events, knowledge sharing and so on.

I guess what it boils down to is what each of us want from the hobby. Many of us just want to enjoy our cars and are happy to share the experience with strangers and fellow owners in a casual way. I joined PI in part because there were no formal meetings and yet there was/is a great magazine and great camaraderie between members on the forum. I have made some great friends here in both a virtual and real sense. No bureaucracy, no executive to vote for and all worth the price of membership.
You're right Mark. I think that as soon as there is a commitment to a club it becomes more of a chore than a happening. Not that we are any better please don't misunderstand me, but we just make a few calls and go for a ride "no commitment" no "I have to." We just get together for the pleasure of seeing each other and our cars. Hope you guys can make it fun again. Rob6145
Wow, this cold Northeastern Canadian forum sure is getting some Southwestern heat!

I think Coz is reeling from the recent lack of participation and poor response to some great events he planned. Heck, if I lived there I would have been to all of them. All day track time without the pressure of speed differential to worry about? What a great way to learn the limits of our cats! And all for next to nothing. With lunch included. Awesome, Dude.

But Coz must have realized by now that like all great politicians who deliver for their constituents, they are eventually let down by the same folks who adored them. It's a fact of life. Not cars. Or clubs. Expect less and you will be disappointed less often.

Who wants to go to a Pantera meeting where guys leave their cars at home and then show up to bitch and moan. Might as well stay home, tell your wife she's looking a little heavy and sit through a shitstorm without getting off the couch.

Like Rob says, in our CDN group we make a few calls, send some emails and then maybe meet with 2 or 4 or 14. Whatever. No pressure. No commitment. No fees. But this a new group. With few owners and very little history. Move us to the west coast where this all began, with a history of 200 cars in Vegas and things would be different. Big time events have created a big time infrastructure. Like Coz indicated, new blood is good. But a new attitude could work too. Just start fresh with the simple objective of having fun with friends.

Which brings me to our Canadian group. Maybe we should start fresh too and put a little more structure into our loose organization?

So from now on we will meet religiously each 2nd Tuesday at precisely 7:00 PM. Late attendees will be fined. Failure to attend two meetings in a row will mean exclusion. Failure to bring your Pantera will result in a public beating in your driveway. In order to attend a major event - like Kingston - you will have to have attended 84% of all meetings.

Good. Now we have the basis for a fun relationship.

Just kidding.

>>No, actually were in our best Pantera Driving weather, cars are running very cool. When I see of of the club members here, it's good to see them anyway. Half of them agree with me and the other half we talk about.....:-)

>>Naw, not really. you forget, I have been doing this for the last 6 years. Yea, I think we F'd up by not taking this track time. It was a missed opportunity on a world class track. But oh well, so be it. It, like many others, bit the dust. Doesn't mean PI with my total support won't pull something off. Maybe this again in the futrue if there is enough interest and I get at least 30 together for 2 days or 15 for 1. Track cost is 1500.00 a day for 80 minutes of track time with AZ CLUB RACING, all corner workers, medical crews and insurance. Everything else on your own. I just think we were idiots for not going through with at least one day. Looking back, that's what we should have done. We could have pulled it off if everyone that committed came up with another 40.00. Those commited would have in a heartbeat. I have to take the blame for this. We should have done it anyway. It would have been fun.

>>BUT, I also wished you were closer too...you would have made 11.

>>If you haven't realized by now, I hate Polticians. Just sued one and beat is ass in Federal Court for the dirtbag he is..
Bla, Bla, Bla. I was born at night, just not last night. Or in the words of my favorite, Outlaw Josey Wells, Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.

Who wants to go to a Pantera meeting where guys leave their cars at home and then show up to bitch and moan. Might as well stay home, tell your wife she's looking a little heavy and sit through a shitstorm without getting off the couch.

>>Actually I use this night for taking out my wife, usually in the Pantera, for a movie and dinner. (She needs to see why I have to spend the money on the Pantera and her haircuts are not really that important right now) The benefits are amazing for both me and the needs of the Pantera :-). You're absolutey, almost right on this one.

>Question: has drinking beer have anything to do with it ?
In case you didn't know, I married a Canadian from Calgary, Eh.....

Which brings me to our Canadian group. Maybe we should start fresh too and put a little more structure into our loose organization?

>>Naw, leave it along if it's working.

>>I might have added 3 misses within a year would result in their car being parted out to those of us that need parts. But I'm cool, I can live with what you came up with.

Good. Now we have the basis for a fun relationship

>>NOTICE: THE BEATINGS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORAL IMPROVES !

Just kidding.

>> Me too Big Grin

>>So what now, you think anyone will get their butts out of the rocking chairs and get involved. Ya think it will stop anyone from running their mouths and start running their Pantera's ?

There's 2 events coming up on both sides of the US. Both are great events. No excuses. Go to at least one or shut the .... up. (can I say that ?)

We, as a family are so close vitually via PC, WE ALL need to meet somewhere at sometime.
There's a thought :-)

I'm Jim Cozzolino, AKA "Coz" and I approve this message. gag, gag.

Good stuff Coz. Glad to see you haven't lost your sense of humour - considering that jury would have given you a lot more than you settled for. But winning is winning!

Gee, I didn't know about your wife being Canadian. But now I have even more respect for your good taste, eh.

So what are those two great events on both sides of the country? And which one is on my side?
