Radiator Fan

I have not, but a caution: the fan blades, if they're really vibrating that much, are probably coming dangerously close to the radiator core. Core tubes are only 0.020" thick so if a blade touches them, it'll bore a hole to water in about zero seconds! Repair is not practically possible to a radiator drilled open by an errant fan. Pull the fan, take it apart and r&r the bad bearing/bushing. It'll be cheaper than shipping to & from CA, I'd bet, even if its still under some warranty.

I have exactly the same issue with one of my Hall fans. It's amazing how much vibration is transmitted to and through the car by one out-of-whack fan.

I haven't taken the time to diagnose the problem yet. Could be a blade out of balance, or out-of-round, or walking on the shaft somehow, or a bad motor?

In any case, I mentioned my problem to Gary Hall, and even though I bought these fans in 1992 or so, he told me that if I found a problem, he'd gladly exchange a new one to fix it. Gotta love that!

P.S. I just remembered--I had a radiator fan (four-blade aluminum) come apart on my 427 Cobra replica, and it really wreaked havoc. You'd be astounded at how much vibration THAT generated when one blade broke off. It felt like the whole front of the car was coming apart. Eventually it smoothed out, as the rest of the blades snapped off. I was very lucky that it didn't destroy the radiator....

I, also, installed the Hall fans. Within 8 months the passenger side fan started making a terrible grinding noise. I spoke with Gary and he said remove it and send it to him and he would take care of it.
Thats teriffic-so I take the time to remove the fan, UPS it to Hall, wait until the new fan arrives, and then install it. When I pay a premium price I expect a premium product. I don't enjoy redoing the same project again and again.

Actually I have no complaints about these turbo fans, as they have been in my car for many years. Not sure if he even sells these anymore. I am just not sure if it is a fan problem, or maybe it needs tightening or adjusting on the frame. My next step will be to open the front grill and take a look (I sure don't need any blades contacting the radiator).

I found the problem to the Meriha Turbo Fan problem. I had placed a small piece of 1/2 cut water hose under the back side of the fan where is tightens down to the frame of the car. On one of the fans I had two 1/2 cut hoses (so the fan would tilt forward slightly), and it seems that having the 2 hoses under the one fan was causing the excessive vibration due to too much rubber. Runs perfect now, with no vibration. Didn't have to spend any money which made the wife happy...she can get "another" pair of shoes.
