As I think about your question and how to get the answer, I'm thinking the best way to answer that question is to e-mail all the Lincoln Mercury Dealers in the USA and ask them for the answer, tell them they'll be rewarded with a mention of their name and dealership's name in R&T if they help out here. Just a suggestion. May also be a way to search Motor Vehicle Dividion or Department of Motor Vehicles or Department of Public Safety to really get the most accurate answer, doing a title search starting with the earliset VIN no. known to be exported to the USA. If I was going to try and do a limited search, with the least effort and expense, I'd start with the most prestigious dealerships, probably in Detroit or Los Angeles. And I'd probably start in L.A., with the dealership in Hollywood that is still very much into Panteras. Probably the best starting point. MVD, DMV & DPS searches probably in the wealthiest states with car fanatics, likely CA, will provide the answer, but I speculate it might have even been the car dealer himself who owned the 1st U.S. Pantera. Probably the guy with bragging rights doesn't even own it anymore. Best of luck, just a suggestion for a search technique.
