Saturday I had a rocker stud fail. Dang - it made a hell of a noice and sounded like serios damage. Turns out the noice was the pushrod hitting the inside of the valvecover making dents from the inside out.
A part from the broken stud there is no other damage. As some of you may remember, the engine is a 427 winsor with a pretty hot roller cam (comp cams 294H)and it's recommended valve springs.
The studs are 3/8-24 - and NOT high-end parts.

I read that these fails with 3/8s are pretty commen, at least when using oem-quality studs. Question is; would updating to ARP 3/8s be sufficient or would I need to go for 9/16s and new (expensive) rockers ??

Thoughts?
