FWIW, eventually, ALL original Pantera seat-belt buckles will fail. What happens is, the leatherette-surround on the face of the buckle is the only thing resisting the spring pressure inside the seat belt latch. Over time, the plastic post-cures, gets hard & brittle and cracks, letting the internal parts loose. Ford/DeTomaso used to offer a repair kit to fix this, but it was discontinued a decade ago. PPC-Carson City is the only vendor I know of reproducing the buckle rebuild kits (www.panteraparts.com). They also have some used buckles & belts.
