I suggest NOT cutting your steel hood for vents. First, suche vents are mostly cosmetic, as they aren't large enough to vent enough air at very low speeds to do much for engine temp. Look at the front hood of a GT-40 for "adequate" sized hood vents.Typical Pantera hood vents do work at higher speeds but most Panteras including 500+ horse big-blocks don;t have heating problems at highway speeds. Second, a good used, un-cut steel hood now sells for well over $1200. A cut hood is worth approximately nothing. Instead, I'd put your steel hood up in the garage & look for a fiberglas hood new or used, most of which already have vents molded into them and sell for maybe half that price. Such hoods can easily be altered by any shop falmiliar with working on Corvettes or kit cars, or you can do it in your basement.
