Sticky throttle

Try a spritz of WD40 on either side of the gas pedal, where the pivot shaft goes through, up under the dashboard, I suspect the old grease is sticky.

I had the same type situation, I went with a heavier spring at first and ended up replacing the cable. I had to constanty pull up on the pedal with my foot to get it to idle down. if the lube does not help, check that the cable slides freely. It too can be lubed.

Check your cable and make sure it has been kinked going through the firewall.

Coz, I'm getting ready to put the interior back in 6808, but would like to make sure the cable is routed properly, can you shed any light on the routing?
