Good morning to everyone.  I was seeking advice from anyone who has used Vintage Air in their Pantera and how it fit.  Did you use the stock Pantera evaporator under the dash, or used a Vintage Air one?  Did you use a stock condenser or used their universal one?  Same question for the compressor, dryer, etc.

Years ago I used a complete universal Vintage Air HVAC system with the compact evaporator under the dash in a kit car I had built.  It worked flawlessly.  I just don't know how they fit in a Pantera and prior to digging deep into it, I thought I would ask the forum, as I am sure someone out there has had experiences in this area.

Or if you have another recommendation other than Vintage Air, I am listening and open to suggestions.

Thank you in advance.

Myself, lf-tp2511 and a few others here, have installed Restomod Air units in our Panteras. "Panterror" used a Classic Auto Air unit, which is nearly the same as the Restomod Air.  Installation in a late dash car is easier than with an early dash but either way, not a simple installation. Do a search here, for Restomod Air and you'll find lots of info. I used a Don Byars aftermarket condenser that has more capacity than stock but fits in the stock location.

If I were doing it all over, I'd add an extra vent at either end of the dash. This is the way DeTomaso did it beginning with late GT5's. I'm convinced it makes a big difference.

I just finished up my last pantera, I have had 7 and the last 3 I put Sanden units on. On the last car a early 72 I used the usual sanden 91-74001x wt an adapter plate, the factory condenser was left in place, I had to get a new evaporator as the heater was leaking, I did all my own lines and a new filter dryer. When I finished up the system I had 38 degrees and it was 90 degrees outside and the temp inside the car was still  was dropping and it was not a full charge.  If you need to do the evaporator just bench check it to make sure it will hold some pressure especially on the heater side.

If you are going this far make sure that your steel heater lines are not filled wt crap and plugged up as mine were and i deleted them and when to my speed shop and they had high pressure and more important high them rubber line that went right in, it took longer to remove the old stell lines

The dash takes about 1.5 hours to pull.

Good Luck  ACS
