I recognize that picture. Do you just like the look of them or do you actually want to use them as a stud girdle too? The set in the picture just had the stud hardware mounted in place with short cap screws so they bolt on like any valve cover. How much you looking to spend? I don't think the figure cited earlier will even come close these days. They are very "collectable".

That's what I have on my Group 4 383. I saw some on eBay about a year ago that sold for $7,500, and it was a used set. I was going to get another set just to have them until I saw the bidding. Maybe just because they are hard to find, who knows. Search the web, I am sure there are some around, and for better price! No problems experienced with mine. The guy I bought my car from took me for a ride and reved the RPMs hard at 6,500+ quite a bit till I wet my pants. He said that was one of the benefits of the stud girdle (not the wet pants, but RPM). I would think there should be something similar around to get the same benefits for less cost.

I am Quite Familiar with eBay auction prices in regards to this Specific Valve cover.

NO WAY !!!!!...a set sold for $7,500.00!!!.

Here is a SOLD example...

http://www.boss302.com/smf/ind....msg407425#msg407425

This is what bothers me about the internet!!!!.

COMPLETELY ERRONEOUS CLAIMS!!!...stated as "Facts"!!!!!...

MOST I have EVER seen/heard a set sold for was $700.00
You need to check your Medications!!!...BEFORE posting something Sooooooooooo OUTRAGEOUS!!!

In unrelated news "Does200" has confirmed that "Pig do fly" & "Ellen DeGeneres has married Brad Pitt"...Mark
They are like the Autolite inline carbs. There are so few that you can name your price on them.

In talking to Kelly, you are actually talking to one of THE collectors of both.

On the covers something in the $3,000 to $3,500 a set is the neighborhood. For that, I would want the complete set with the original rocker studs. Most of those are already missing out of the set.

On the Autolites? Probably the same per carb.

It doesn't matter really. Look at what the 10" Campis are going for now.

On the covers, I didn't want them at $300 a set. When you get up close, they aren't what you think.

The Blue Thunder Competition valve covers are much nicer. On those you could have them CNC engraved with Detomaso and that is good enough to have people shooting pictures of your engine and thinking that they came off of a Detomaso Formula 1 engine.

That's the way I'd go. Forget about the Ford Motorsport ones. Wait a few years and there will be lots of wives selling their husbands "estate sales". Lots of them hanging on shop walls for decoration still. The shops don't need to be cleaned out yet.

I'd spend my money on the 10" Campis rather than the valve covers or the Autolites.

There is a chance that Blue Thunder would at some point make the valve covers and I'd rather have Weber 48ida's than the Autolites. That's just me. It just takes one person somewhere willing to pay the asking price that resets the high end number. Then it becomes the Cobra syndrom, i.e., the higher they go, the better the investment and the more in demand they are. Reality then has nothing to do with anything.

Have you ever actually owned, bought, or sold a set of these at that price or just read about it? Just wondering based upon your replies and comments to the other members post's above. Last two complete sets I sold for $1750 and that was 2 years ago. The last two broken/incomplete sets I saw sell (because I was outbid) sold for >=$1250.

-My 2 cents. If there is serious interest I can help. $700 is not serious.

I owned/utilized/SOLD a set 4 years ago for $550.00.

Was happy to sell for $550.00

In my opinion, MUCH better ways to strength rocker arm studs.

I understand about market fluctuations, timing, & an individual's need for certain parts.

I'm a patient buyer whilst others may have less regard for waiting.

As a don't consider an over inflated purchase price as the norm, but rather an anomaly.

That is why I sited 2 purchase price examples, "1" for $450.00, "1" for $550.00.

Yes the examples were 2 years old, BUT a set of valve covers does NOT increase in value approximately 1,400% ( from $550.00 to $7,500.00) in 2 years!!!...Mark

There are lots of people who list items for sale on Ebay for a ridiculously inflated price.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Origin...em567032f4ad&vxp=mtr

There are many reasons including they are sharks attempting to price gouge the gullible or they just have no freakin' clue at all?

You can list the starting or buy it now for whatever you want BUT I think it is a more accurate statement of value to check "completed auctions".

Asking $7,500 has absolutely no basis in any reality that I know of in this Universe or known dimension.

The only criticism I would have is about this discussion and why would anyone even bring this up as even for serious consideration and debate?

Only a chimpanze with a fist full of $100 bills would even be in danger of such a purchase. Why worry about it at all?
The valve cover makes for quick access to the valve train, as used in race application for this reason, not as a stud girdle, it is not a stud girdle.

Please explain why you feel this specific type of valve cover... "The valve cover makes for quick access to the valve train, as used in race application for this reason, not as a stud girdle, it is not a stud girdle".

In actuality those valve covers requires MORE TIME to remove!

Not only do you have the 8 valve cover bolts to remove, PLUS the 8 acorn nuts!

How does having to remove TWICE as many bolts/nuts as a standard Cleveland valve cover, equate to "Quick Access to the valve train"?!...

It's a rhetorical question.

With members posting $7,500.00 valve covers & now it's quicker to remove 16 nuts & bolts than 8...I believe MANDATORY drug testing is in order, prior to posting!!!... Party Jester ...Mark

I don't know who the last manufacturer of them was. I think at one time it was Offenhauser?

I do remember about four or five years ago that one of the Pantera parts vendors announced they were informed no more would be made.

I don't know if that is true or not and IF the vendors are just using up existing stock right now?

Hum? $80 huh? I don't know? Can't you do a little better?

I guess a Chevy guy would have no idea who Hall Pantera was and that they sell them for 159.99 new right? Maybe he can put them on his Nova SS? Typical if you ask me?
Since the OP posted a wanted thread, as a courtesy it might be appropriate to start a separate discussion thread on these valve covers and use this thread to suggest leads on the part.

Gunner, there’s an old adage about something being worth what someone will pay. A corollary to that might be: Sometimes it’s better to gage market value from those that actually have a set to sell instead of just an opinion. Feel free to drop me a PM.

There's also ANOTHER adage/phrase..."A sucker is born every minute"...Mark

"There's a sucker born every minute" is a phrase most likely spoken by David Hannum, in criticism of both P. T. Barnum, an American showman of the mid 1800s, and his customers. The phrase is often credited to Barnum himself. It means "Many people are gullible, and we can expect this to continue."

Mark it is very important to time "ones drugs " properly as well as the dosages.

I know I do.
Excellent point Doug!!!...have to factor in the time it takes the the drug to "Kick In"!!!...being a child of the "Psychedelic Era"( 4 way hits of window pane LSD) & later the "Disco Era" ( Peruvian fish scale flake cocaine), I've had my moments of "Mind Alteration"!!!...Mark
