I just put a set on my car with 8" rims. They work fine but when you crank the steering wheel all the way over to full lock the inside tire rubs on the inside back. Only a problem if you parallel park your Pantera! Do you parallel park your car???!!!

Yes, but...This is a near-maximum width tire for unflaired Panteras. I run 245-50x 15 Goodyear Eagles on 8" Campys, mounted on a '72L with no spring spacers. The tires hit the fender lip on both sides in turns, requiring lip rolling in the center. Tires touched the extreme lower edge of the inside fender panel near the radiator (both sides), needing a bit of ball-peen work. Also touched the cowl drain pipe on the drivers side (slightly flattened w/ hammer) and, at full lock, the rear edge of the left inner fender just past the brake hard line bracket. More ball peen work to make a crescent-shaped dent. Pass. side cleared OK- most Panteras are slightly asymmetrical. After 25,000 miles, no further problems except with two people plus luggage, with wheels at full lock, low speed-parking-lot stuff, I'm still getting a slight touch somewhere. All hammer work is invisible from outside, and I'm not a good bodyman.....

Clearances seem to vary from one car to the next. My 245/45X15 Hoosiers on 8" rims only rub on the right wheelhouse at the rear. Left side doesn't touch anywhere.
The Dunlop SP8000 245/50X15 on 7" rims dont rub at all. The fender lips had already been rolled when I bought the car

On the subject of tires, what should the pressures be front and rear when running 17" rims on a stock car. Also, measured warm or cold is best?

Anyone have some info on this? Should I go by what the manual says for tire pressure, even though I don't have stock wheels/tires? My current dunlop 17 inch are running 25 pressure in the rear and about 24 in front, measured cold.

How come no one knows this? Maybe I should go to a Corvette site for info on my Pantera.

The recommended tire pressure should be molded into the sidewall of the tire. That is measured with the tires cold. That pressure will differ between manufacturers.
The tire manufacturer recommends the pressure that will give you the best tire life. The vehicle menufacturer will recommend a lower tire pressure to give you a better ride.
If you are running track events or autocross, you will want to find the optimum tire pressure for those specific tires with a pyrometer.

Thanks Jim. They are Dunlop ZR Sport 8000 tires, and all it indicates is "Maximum" pressure of 44 PSI (to me seems high). The tires doesn't indicate a recommended pressure. My current 24 - 26 PSI seems low to me, so maybe by gestimate, I will take it up to 30 or 40.

Tyre pressures - Pantera L Front 28 psi, rear 31 psi. Pantera GTS front 31, rear 34. Pantera GT5 front 37, rear 40.
For constant maximum cruising increase the above figures by 5 psi. These pressures are from the owners booklet issued to all new cars. If you are using non standard wheel and tyre sizes you are therefore taking a risk if you drive at high speed as there are no recommended pressures for non stock tyres.

I tried 28 psi rear and 27 front, and boy did it ride stiffer...off to see the dentist, I think I lost a filling.

I don't run 17" wheels. When competing with 50-series tires on stock Campis, I ran 42 psi front, 46-48psi rear. The 'Vettes I ran against w/16 & 17" wheels went as high as 52 psi. And we all reduced the pressure for the drive home! Higher pressures give more control & steering precision along with less compliance, so the ride is jarring. Depends on what you want & how you're driving.
