Hey RC,

Why don't you try Mark Mensen (on this forum). He has a set of Hall MKX 17's with Champ Nuts for sale. You can contact him via private message. Your best bet?

By the way I saw your car; pictured in the HB Concourse Event, several years ago and met the owner from 1000 Oaks, CA. Did you purchase this from him in a private sale? Post some more pics, as I remember this was a beautiful car.

Good luck with the wheels,
Dave #3463
Dave,
You're right. Steve Borecki was from T.O. but is now in Temecula. The car is very nice. The Group 4 wheels were replaced with 18" HRE's. I really like the Group 4 wheels though. Thanks for the lead on the wheels, I've found several vendors that can take get the wheels. Maybe I can well the HRE's first. My picture files are usually too large for me to post. I needto do it at work so I can shrink them first! Randy #2472
No I have not. My 1972 Pre L is an uncut, unmodified body. I would love a Group IV or GT5 bodied car and would porbably purchase one if I could find the right car. In the last 5 years of serious searching my # 34563 was the only car I would plunk down the $$$ for. The few others I had considered had problems with owners, Pantera vendors, and the like that made me run the other way.

I just like the aftermarket wheels and Group IV taillites. Hall stopped making my fav'z the MK8 with K-O wings and I did not want a used set...

Dave
Dave,
Not to be the dummy on the block, the wheels you describe with k-o's sounds like mine, can you tell if in fact they are? I'm considering the wheels offered by pantera east, more of a GT5 look. I have not had the wheels off my car yet to look for markings.
Thanks for you input

Tires? I have 335/35/17 rear tires on 11" wide wheels. I would look to see what tires will be available in the 13" width. It's awfully darn wide and you will likely find the selection pretty limited (and expensive, if that matters).

Good luck!
You might like to contact Larry Stock, PPC Reno too. He has a set of 10 spoke wheels copied from the original wide body Campi's and made exclusively for him by Kodiak Wheels.

They are 18" dia. and list for $685 FR & $765 RR for the GT-5 (10" & 13" width) versions (he has GT5-S too but with different offsets for the slight difference in body width). The 18" dia. with a 30 profile tire gives a tire Dia. no more than the 17"'s with a 35 profile and there is more tire choice in the 18". (Michelin even make a 345/30 Pilot Cup).

Daryle at Kodiak wheels is a good friend of Coz and if $$ is a concern you may like to consider some of Daryle's generic designs. Coz's/my GT5 has the Kodiak FX design and Daryle uses that in his PI magazine advertisement. I also have a set of the STX's in the garage anticipating the GP4 conversion of #7024.

Daryle's website has more info on design and pricing; http://www.kodiakmotorsports.com

Thanks for your help. I will will do as you suggest and post them if I replace them. I really like the GT5 rims by pantera east, I like the offset and extra width. Any pro's or con's from any one regarding pantera east wheels, 17x11 and 17x13
thanks,
Daniel

FWIW. There was an older three piece Hall wheel that had bad problem with cracking. If those are three piece wheels you might want to find out if they are the type that cracked.

Pantera East has GT5 style wheels available for GT5 bodies and standard bodies and they look wonderful.

You'll find the same selection as 335/35's are rated for rims from 11 to 13" width.

I'm curious about this issue. If the tire is a 335 anyway, what would be the benefit of the wider wheel?

I understood that 335 was the width of the tire in mm (works out to 13.19 inches). I'm not challenging that they might fit somehow, because my A4 had 245 (9.65 inches) tires on 9 inch rims, but would it be a good idea? I got curb rash whenever I got within a foot of a curb (OK, maybe it was less than a foot...). Even then, the tire was over half an inch wider than the wheel, not only 1/8 inch.

If anyone could post a pic of a 13" wheel with the 335's, I'd love to see what it looks like.

Holy Cow Roland, your car is looking gr8., especially the number plate. (in joke, sorry..) Yes, one needs just that little bit of rubber out there when one parks...looks excellent Roland, what are u running up frt.? More pics please...Because of the above reasons and due to a severe lack of choice here in South Africa, i went for 18x13 (345/30) not 14 as our friend Lazlo did in OZ,- I wanted that little extra bit of rubber protecting the rim edge, and to get my nose down in frt, a 16x9.5(245/40)Was concerned about unsprung weight etc. so went for a light-weight, 3-piece Germany Work set of rims with spun alluminm outers....Very happy; the weight compared very favouably to the 15x13 Campy's in magnisium.
Listen to a tune-up on vacume gauges of my #6295's 48IDA's being yanked-on, exiting thru 'old' set of 180's on my 'new' car-freak website. Cheers
