Weather stripping front hood

Try adjusting the latch.

John, I have the part on the car as high as it can go, next thing that was suggested is bending the rod on the hood. Trying not to do that.

has anyone had any success with the weather stripping or maybe a different profile of weather stripping?

Should not have to be bending the rod.  What type of WS are you using and where did you get it?  I have a very flat, low profile WS and never had such an issue.  The deck lid needs to lie flat to the fender line and cowl as you know.  Get a different type of WS.

I got the pre cut weather strip from Wilkinson

it's the same as on the rear deck lid but that shuts no issue

can you send a link of what you have?

I would bet I have Wilkinson.

How are you trying to latch?

I gently lay the hood down.  Put a cloth over the latch, then give it a good "CPR compression"

Same way. I've had it latched before I replaced the weather stripping, I tossed the old one..

I have had the same problem on two Panteras. The front trunk lid had trouble closing with the new weatherstripping that you have. Maybe try letting it rest for a week or so and see if the rubber softens.  You can also loosen the latch so that the deck lid puts more pressure from gravity at the desired spots on the rubber. Hopefully the rubber will relax and let you close the lid as before

good idea, on loosening the latch, I'll loosen it and set the hood down with some weight on it

I loosened the latch shut the hood and put a bunch over heavy moving blanckets on the hood.

if you find the source of that of that other style, I'll pick it up.

This is what I am using.  Not sure where I got it.  I think I bought it from an auto trim shop.  The rubber is round when not compressed.   At the front of the car, it barely compresses.  At the latch, it is totally flat when locked.  

Anyone try the front hood weather stripping from Mr Fiat?
