600 pounds on a steel tub ain't bad. What Gorhan did is impressive but not very cost effective unless you are going racing against big factory teams.
If I'm not mistaken 2,700 pounds is about what you can get a Pantera to through "normal" means.

That puts it into a power to weight ratio of about what a 427 Cobra is. Plus or minus. Maybe mostly plus? Smiler

My first impression of driving my first Pantera with a 11:1 cr engine and Webers on it about 1984, was that it pulled effortlessly and as a result felt very, very light.

What I liked about it was that the power came on more reasonably than the Cobra which if you didn't pay attention to the way you hit the throttle was constantly threatening to go sideways for no reason.

That Pantera was a low 12 second 1/4 mile car as was the 427 Cobra S/C I drove.

The same person owned both cars and made the remark to me that he thought that Pantera was right there with the Cobra.

I thought so too. He had to take the keys away from me. I was scaring the crap out of him without even knowing it? Hey. What's wrong with 120 getting on 684 in third gear? Nothing. A lot right about it if you ask me? Big Grin

Ironic to me that now what is now considered to be a plain Jane 351 iron Cleveland with 357 ci is not difficult to get 500 to 550 hp from.

I understand the attraction to building a stroker Cleveland. Especially with an aluminum block and FI but to basically just gain big low rpm torque (3,000 to 4,000 rpm), lower safe top rpm with the same 550 hp JUST to make the Pantera go sideways at any throttle blip just brings it back to the shortcomings of the 427 Cobra?

That makes no sense to me. It's just glizt added to a package that doesn't need or even want it?

Put your stroker car on the dragstrip and see if it goes faster or slower now? I'll bet you can't hook the thing up?

Kinda' like having a 'girl friend' 5'0" tall, 100 pounds, and has a J cup bra? Poor thing. How can she stand it? Does anyone have her cell phone number? Razzer
