can anyone tell me the correct backspacing on a 15x10 rear wheel and a 15x7 or 8" front for a stock bodied pantera ? i know that good speed rated tires are getting harder to find in 15", but can anyone recommend a good tire/size combination to fit these wheel sizes without hitting or rubbing? my car is only being used for normal hwy driving. .....P.S....HAPPY HOLIDAYS to entire PANTERA community !

The stock 8" rim fits nice in the front of the NON altered fender! I believe the backspace is 5 1/4". The 10" rim I have on the rear (NON altered fender) has 5.5" backspace and fits PERFECT! The tire is as far out of the fender as I wanted, yet is still just inside (1/2" to 3/4") from the top lip of the wheel well! All the best! Marlin. P.S. I like the 50 series size of tire! As fat as I can get it! ofcourse, with the fastest rating possible.

thanx marlin ! ,would a 5" or 5 1/2" backspace work for the front 15x8 ? if not, would a 15x7 with a 4 1/2 or 5" backspace work ? also, what size and brand tires are YOU using on your 8 and 10" rims ? any help is greatly appreciated ! trying to get it right the FIRST time !........thanx again

Yes! Your 8" rims will work with the 5 1/2" backspace, and the wheel and tire will still be inside of the fender lip. When I purchased my Panther, it came with Pirelli "Scorpion" tires. 60 series, 215-15 front and 255-15 rear (V rated). So when I moved the stock Campy 8"er's to the front, I just put the original tires on (you "balloon" them on just a little, they look better, and it stiffens the sidewall a bit!). Same when I purchased the 10"er's for the rear, since the tires were fairly new. When they do wear out, I plan to go to 50 series. Something like the Euro TA'S. I am also "toying" with the idea of putting the 10's in front, with 12" in back with a 6" backspace. The rim would be right at the lip, with the sidewall "ballooning" out(size 295), the tread would still be with-in the wheelwell. It might NOT be what I want! Because the wider you go, and the more backspace you use; the more WANDERING and BUMPSTEER you will have to live with!! And the more SHOCK you will HIT upon the road surface!! (narrower tires miss more potholes!!) All the best, Marlin.
