Away in small cottage for a few days, got up early, nothing to do, looked through the 170 channels of satellite crap, most of it in languages I don't understand. Ended up at RTV, Renault TV. A 24 hour channel, all of it about Renault, old and new, street and racing. Semi interesting. But what was really fun was seeing a documentary about the Renault 5 (my wife's first car), the TV commercials from back then. Does anything like that exist for DeTomaso? Was the Pantera ever advertised on TV in the US? Or in Italy? Does anybody have any of it?

I recall an early 70's Lincoln Mercury commercial that very quickly featured a Capri as well as an even quicker look at a Pantera.
The beginning scene featured a dock worker beside a ship with an unloading ramp in the background, and as a Capri drove down the ramp he pointed to his left and shouted "Capri! over there!" and as it rolled out of sight a Pantera followed, and he pointed to his right and shouted "Pantera! over there!"
The scene then quickly changed into a spiel about how Lincoln Mercury had "lots" of imports, finishing of course with the (growling) sign of the cat. Does anyone/someone else (please!) remember this commercial?
Like a lot of things, I have no idea how/where to find it now 40 years on.......

Here in Denmark we didn't have TV commercials when I was young, verboten! So I've seen very few of the old ones. Two I remember (NPC) are:
1. A 70 Barracuda commercial where the new model (looking very different from the previous) were met several times with the comment: "What IS it?!?".
2. Mid 80s, Buick tried to build a world beater, maybe it was a LeSabre. And the very entertaining commercial showed how it arrived via a cargo plane to Germany and Japan and one place more I don't remember. And the point was that the local car manufacturers were in the airport to see this new car, and they always looked scared, angry, concerned, because they could see this Buick would steal their customers Smiler Never even remotely happened of course.
There is a factory that makes the Chinese Buicks in China. Even though it is a GM plant, the Chinese Buicks are not the same as what you would buy in the USA. The safety standards in China are not near as strong as here in the U.S. and the cars reflect that.
Anyhow, if you have ever driven on a Chinese road, I doubt the cars will survive long enough to be a problem.
