Trying to find out how to get my car to run correctly. I have white smoke coming out of the exhaust at idle. It seems to be running rich (I guess). I have a holley 600 performance series carb (chrome looking). Which way do you turn the mixture screws. I would assume turning them clockwise would make it run leaner? Do you turn them all the way in and back them out a turn or two. What is the procedure for this? Thanks

White smoke out one side or both? My first thought when you say white smoke is coolant. Are you losing any coolant or getting any oil in it? It is possible blow a headgasket in such a way that you get coolant in the cylinder without getting any in the oil and without getting any oil in the coolant, but blowing headgaskets on both sides would be unusual unless you got the engine really hot. Compression test would also tell you if you have head gasket problems.
