do the Pantera headers need modification when going to a Winsor engine, or are heads compatible to both the block and headers available? PI sells such an engine as well, what is their solution?
I think all of the venders sell Windsor headers for a Pantera. They are totally different and won't come close to fitting. The flanges on a Cleveland are angled down and the Windsor come straight out from the head. The bolt pattern is also different.
Besides what was already posted, the 351 Windsor block is wider so regardless of whether the 351C heads are bolted on (they will fit), your 351C headers will interfere with the rear springs/shocks on both sides and the gas tank on the drivers side. Fixing these problems (with a welding torch) will cause interferences in the muffler exhaust pipes which then must both be corrected.
If you are seriously considering a conversion to the Windsor style motor, do not buy from PI; they buy their motors from Coast High Performance in Torrance are charge thousands more than you can buy it from Coast- - -save money and time and go directly to Coast.
