Try to elaborate a little,if you were to flat bed it on a truck then you have no problem (flat bed tow truck). If you were to rent a trailer like a U-haul bear in mind that you cannot exceed 45 MPH, big time deal breaker. I tried this once for a car from west VA back to NYC, if I had gone through with it it would have taken a week to make it back. Consider a car carrier service, open or closed trailer your choice. The beauty is that they do not necessarily transport only one vehicle so it really doesn't cost as much as you might think. You can even put it on a train. Good luck.
Modok,

Tow the Pantera nose into the wind so as to not have the hoods blow open when towing. Make sure that the balance is OK. Tire straps that hold the car down by wrapping the wheel are less damaging than suspension-point tie-downs. Leave the car out of gear, but have the parking brake on. Also, drive slowly!

Congratulations and good luck!
I used straps and ratcheting tiedowns to move mine on a flatbed trailer. AW Direct is an online wrecker supplier that has tons of stuff. I used the straps that tie through the openings in the wheels (with soft cloth between the strap and the wheel). Of course this is dependent on what kind of wheel on the car. Anyhow, look through the catalog on line to find what kind of equipment is out there.
When I haul cars I use 2x4's and rubber bands which help keep the car in position. I take 2x4 and screw in hooks. With a 2x4 in front and behind the tire rubber bands pull them together. So if the car rocks it just pulls them in tighter. It seems real simple but helps keep the car from shifting.

It is also good to drive a few miles, pull over and re-tighten the straps.

Thanks for all the sugestions, but let me elaborate.Within the next four days I must pick up this car. All I have at my disposal is a roll-back car trailer with tie down eyes front and back, and truck style ratchet straps. What is the best way to secure the car using what I have? I am thinking of tieing it forward with the hooks of the ratchet straps in the holes of the front subframe underneath the front of the rockers. On the back, maybe I can use the transaxle mount to pull it back. What do you guys think?
Best way I've done it, is to get a strap that can tie down the wheels like photo shown.

If not, get a shorts strap with two rings that can go thru one of the holes in the wheels. Put some rags around the straps and with the two rings together, attach you hook to it.

Failing that, there is always the front swaybar or the subframe. But wrap the strap around it - don't use the hook on it.

For the rear, use the big bar below the ZF that the rear sway bar brackets are bolted to.

I have used many a u-haul tow dolly. Drive shaft must be removed, in the case of the PANTERA both 1/2 shafts must be removed. See photo. Just go on line and find the nearest independent dealer (not a company store). U-haul has rules nothing called an FORD EXPLORER can be the towing vehicle, and usually a '65 MUSTANG is a good to be towed car. JD

Hi Modok,
When I Trailer my Pantera on either my open trailer or my enclosed trailer I always use tie downs and I will explain how I do it. In the front of the car, underneath, about center of the lower A-arm, you will see a slanted slot in what I call the frame rails for lack of a better term that comes to mind (I have seen one Pantera that did not have these slots). I hook one of the tie down hooks in this and run the other end of the tie down to the opposite side of the car and attach it to a hook in the floor of the trailer. I then do the opposite side of the car the same. This has the tie downs criss crossed so that you get less side to side movement. Then at the rear I use axle straps around the rear cross member ( Beneath the rear of the ZF), one on each side. Then I hook my tie down through the loops on the axle straps and the other end to the floor of the trailer again. Do this to both sides ( the rear can not be criss crossed). I do not strap to the suspension, because I saw one Pantera that the suspension was damaged being trailered that way. Hope this helps. Unfortunately My photo shop is acting up and I cannot download any photos at this time, or I would show photos.
