Well, I think it's the ring/pinion.. of course, the worst case... So, I figure I better start getting an engine/transaxle/clutch budget together... I just talked to Les Grey out in AZ I think??.. and the outlook is bleek. Ring and pinion whine is the worst possible news for poor white trash like me... I'm still gathering intel though, and I hope it lasts another year. I did not get a response from RBT, I will of course talk to them in the next few days...

Pantera Performance in Castle Rock, CO. They do excellent work and are very helpful.

I spoke to Dennis last weekend as he is putting my GT5 ZF back together to ship out to me this week. He was working all weekend and told me he has 20 something ZF's in at the moment.

The GT40 Superformance ZF demand is huge and all the Pantera vendors are basically ZF turnaround shops at present.
Mark,

Dennis said he made a few adjustments inside, but was most concerned about the polished input shaft with a lot of bronze on it. He thinks it was binding and still rotating hence causing hard shifting. Dennis doesn't like the bronze bushings and recommends switching back to a needle bearing.
Dennis told me that on a high milage car like mine (77K)it's not uncommon to hear the transaxle, it may be that the ring and pinion have settled in and warn together in such a way that causes the whine. Of course it does need to be rebuilt eventually but since there in no metal in the fluid, I should'nt really worry about it. He seemed to think failure was not imminent.
news flash! Hello Everyone,

FYI for RBT...
I spoke to Lloyd last week and he wanted everyone to know
that he is on top of the previous backlog on ZF service and building...
and he is delivering units to current customers.

Also..he is fully engaged on taking in new service work for Pantera customers.

There seemed to be some concern that the Superformance & Foose projects...
would interfere with the Pantera service...but those two projects are being
handled out of the Texas production facility...so no worries there.
