ZF shipping

Nay. Use the pallet, but build a box around the ZF. Bolt the ZF to the box you build. Heavy duty padding inside the box.

I agree with RRS. A definite Nay. I motor freighted mine across country in an enclosed box. Didn't use any padding, but wedged it in tightly with 2x4's. I've got pictures somewhere if you're interested. Since it is an aluminum casing it could be damaged. Pictures are recommended in case there is any damage during shipping and any questions come up about packing (as happened to another Pantera owner). And obviously get it insured. I believe it was Lloyd Butfoy who recommended a large plastic truck box which can be bought at WalMart.

When I shipped mine I got the large plastic container form the Walmart Auto department. I bolted on a couple 2x4"s and screwed through the container into the 2x4. This was recomended by other ZF vendors. Took about 10 min to prep for shipping. I screwed a piece of metal on the top and afixed the address labels there. Easy.

Yes , I agree with Gary .. it should go in a plastic container...if it leaks a drop it will be back on your door step or maybe never return . You know the way the get carried away with spilt oil. Oh get a price from FOWARD AIR ... its airport to airport. pretty reasonable with heavy items.

Just a thought but maybe you could put in a heavy duty plastic bag / put it in one of the plastic container's drill a few small holes and fill it with that expandable foam that comes in the cans? Think that would work?? Surely wouldnt move around and would have some protection against accident's..

Another thing to consider is weight. If the ZF is packed in the plastic container with minimal packing you're just at the upper limit to ship it UPS. Anything over and you're commited to using freight trucks.

When I shipped mine to Dennis Quella that is how he told me to ship it. He get's them from Walmart in the auto section. I am not sure if they still had the same thing they did 2 years ago. The ZF fit perfect and with 3 2x4's it took about 10 min to get it ready to ship. Seemed like it was made for the ZF.

Not to mention the plastic box works great if you want to ship your rear uprights out for modifications.
