351 Cleveland aluminium block

How many pounds I can save with 351C aluminium block ?

I have an opportunity I would like to share with you.

We have been involved with the Tod Buttermore Cleveland engine block for a couple years.

Not sure you have heard about it.

Last year this block was used in the Hot Rodding Engine Masters contest.

Bottom line is Tod has customer who are wanting the block, but he is unable to produce the product.

So as of the beginning of this year, Tod offered to sell the Cleveland block project to us.



So here’s our goal,

To produce a product line %100 American made. Starting with the Cleveland block, the B&A Track Boss intake manifold we purchased a

few months ago and this ZF5 transmission adapter package. I also have about a dozen other products I would like to bring

to the market. Including an aftermarket “SBF 400” block. J

Thank you very much for the info, I was thinking about a Coyote swap but an aluminium block on the mighty 351C sounds great and much better.

Do you know approximately how many pounds I can save with Tod buttermore's block ?

Around 100 pounds.

IIRC the Buttermore block weighs about 95#-100# with bore liners installed, factory production 351C block lists @ 165#

cast iron 4V heads are about 55# each bare, not sure what an alloy head weighs?

So do all Aluminum Blocks have to be sleeved with a bore liner? What material do they typically use for this? Some steel tubing, I assume... Machined or honed to the final dimensions....

I'm not privy to the specific manufacturer or sleeve that will be used in the Buttermore/Meyer block but here's the Melling sleeve page, http://www.mellingcylindersleeves.com/Products

there are many grades of cylinder sleeves/liners just as there are pistons & rings, bottom barrel quality/price all the way to state of the art blow your mind materials/price

Was just doing some reading on the T-Meyer/Buttermore block and it looks like we maybe seeing some product soon. Someone also mentioned a block called Arrow in Aus. Anyone have info or experience with this aluminum block?

Note that Pavtek - unless they changed their policy - ships to Australian addresses (deals with Australians?) only. I had some discussions with them about that matter, but I took them by surprise that one day I entered their shop in Melbourne asking for that particular item they were not willing to sell me online/ship to Belgium - should have seen their faces...lol

Track Boss update...

Just got off the phone with the aluminum foundry.

Track Boss 8.2 intake manifold...(2) sample casting have been poured and heat treated and waiting shipping.

Track Boss Cleveland block cores are being assembled when I spoke with them. Again, they will be producing (2) samples casting.

When the blocks are finished with heat treat, they will ship the blocks and intakes together.

We MAY see product within a week or so.
