Running along the center console and nearly the same length as the cigar lighter wire is a cable with a yellow/black and a black wire that pigtails out leaving you with two sets of wires to connect. I had originally thought that this might be for the seatbelt buckle but find no wires there. I don't see anything in the wiring diagrams I have looked at that shows what these might be for. Any ideas? For the record I'm working on a 73L.

I have a 73L and that yellow and black wire might be the cigar lighter light. Attach it to a test light then turn the headlight switch on. If the test light comes on, it will will indicate that is what it is for.
If JFFR is right (which I don't doubt, he has a lot of experience with these cars) and that is what the wires are for, maybe you could help this guy by buying the cigar lighter bulb shield that this guy has had on eBay for nearly a year now.

It really is a Pantera Part (I have one on my car) - but no one will buy it!

It clips on the outside of the lighter housing.

Actually, I think he is using the shotgun approach.

In his initial ads starting about a year ago, he claimed he had a Pantera, as well as a Plymouth van, and he couldn't remember which one it came from.

He has been trying to sell it for at least a year, and it irritates me because it always comes up in my searches.

OBTW, I am not the guy selling it. I AM very impressed with his persistence in trying to sell a $3 part. And I do agree it is a Pantera cigar lighter shield (or at least it sure looks like one!).

Can't vouch for the Mopar part claim!

MauraderMike;
Entering the post somewhat late; however, the wiring diagram I have indicates, as stated above, the Y/BK wire is to the passenger retractor switch. A R/BK wire is to the passenger side seat sensor switch. A Y wire and a R wire is to the driver side retractor and seat sensor switch respectively. The BK wire that pigtails out shows it grounding both seat sensor switches, the cigar lighter, and the combo parking brake warning switch/seat belt warning switch. My diagram shows a blue (B) wire and an orange (O) wire going to the cigar lighter as well as the aforementioned BK pigtail. Unfortunately, my wiring diagrams are not dated to verify what year wiring diagram I have.
