Just instaled a new clutch in my gt5.The clutch i installed is a mc cloud 11inch.The pressure plate has had heavier duty spings installed billet fingers with counterweights.THe clutch plate is standard on the pressure plate side and the flywheel side is brass button.THe first problem i came across was the counterweights hitting the lugs in the bellhousing .After grindind the lugs down a fraction and removing the 2 inner bolts i got the clearances needed for the clutch to spin freely. My problem now is i get a shudder when i slowley release the clutch.I havent driven the car on the road as i tested it in the garage.Does anybody have any advice as to what i should do to slove this.

A slight shutter can be common with a pantera clutch since there is no Marcel spring. The marcel spring, or the flat plate spring between the pads, makes release smoother by more slowly adding friction. The Pantera has little room for cluch travel, so its marcel spring was removed or flattened. This is the same style clutch that is used in race applications.

Sometimes this will improve as the clutch wears in a little and the flywheel and pressure plate are polished.

Of course, the shutter can be caused by hard spots from overheating in the flywheel or by grease on the clutch.

My car shutters a little.
Well that makes me feel a little better! I put in a new clutch a few thousand miles ago and it has shuddered a little from day one. It gets better as time goes by. It only happens when I am required to do a slow engagement from a stop (or in bumper to bumper traffic). It will not shudder if I am reasonably aggressive from a standing start. I have to make a slightly uphill, tight, 90 degree turn to get into my garage. It will normally shudder there too.
Glad to know this is somewhat normal. Thanks for the explaination, Dave.
