I have this ignition on my Pantera. It is a self contained unit that does away with the ignition box and distributor. I used it because of clearance issues to the rear window with my Big Block engine swap. It is the same kit for the Cleveland and 460 Big Block.

It has worked very well for me. It does use a mechanical centrifugal advance, which is fine for a car where fuel economy is not a major concern. It also uses dual coils, which I mounted to the valve covers.

It was simple to install and has worked trouble free. I still have to figure out how to get my Veglia tach to work correctly with it. Probably a simple thing that I have not had time to get at yet.

Thanks for your input

I use an ignition system based on Ford, Pertronix II and MSD parts mounted on a modified 351C. It works ok, but I prefer a system that is more modern, offering higher performance and which can be fitted and forgotten. Mechanical centrifugal advance is fine with me, as vacuum advance is not working particularly well on my engine combo.

But a working Veglia tac is important to me ....
I question what the mechanical design is inside of the sealed cap on this distributor.
It looks like a variation of what you have now except that the spark plugs are attached to the coils.

I second the suggestion about the Pantera-Electronics ignition.

It is still the only ignition that will fire and clean up a fouled spark plug.

It is the ignition I would recommend to you and it is made just for the Pantera. It is the only system you will EVER NEED. Wink
