THE PLASTIC PARTS ON THE STRIKER AND LATCH ARE BOTH IN POOR CONDITION.DO I NEED TO REPALCE THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLYS.1971 WITH RECT. HANDLE.

Yes unless you're lucky enough to find a parted-out Pantera with a good used latch, maybe at a vendor. Used rectangular outside pull-latches tends to sell for over $100 but will not need replaceing. Some people have fabricated parts from old carburetor linkage to replace the failure-prone plastic ball-sockets. 'Course, after 32+ years any plastic parts can be considered suspect in durability.
