Drivers-side door needed

I hate to be a smart ass but this car needs more than a driver side door.

In fact unless insurance is covering the rebuild might be cheaper to part this one out and start with another car.

I agree. Though that little detomaso voice in you says..rebuild..rebuild...rebuild. Only problem is, it won't be easy, nor cheap.

You know guys, if she was mine, I might feel the same way. But then again, I might not want to let go either. It's hard to say, especially after putting a lot of love into getting her just right. I admire Andrew's desire to keep the car alive and hope that he can find the parts he needs with our help.

...I admire Your friends Bravery, He has been through a lot. I am assuming the other person did not have insurance? If so, that company Owes a New Pantera. It has been my experience that people who can't drive, don't bother to obtain insurance coverage. They should go to prison! My two cents is; you could put $100,000. into this wreck and it would still, NEVER be 'Right'. It is far too twisted. I know there are repair shops that can perform 'Miracles' but as we use to say "Jesus Christ couldn't get it right!!" (I apologise if this saying offends anyone). Even if it Looked 'Right-On', in your mind, You would know that it was Not. If it were me, I would Let this one go and start with a new Pantera. In the long run it will be much less expensive and in your heart, you would know that it is forever, Correct. We all have a Heavy Heart after learning of your misfortune and I wish You all the best of things in your decision!...

I'm relieved to hear that your friend is around to make this decision!! That's what important! That looks like a solid hit right at the driver.

I've seen all the parts he needs on ebay.. fender, front window, side-glass, rear quarter panels..all within the last year. If the owner is patient, they'll show up again. I'll be looking!!

p.s. also seen the window regulator. I think they're available now.

Also, Johnny Woods sells the inside frame for the rear quarter panel. This is the inside area behind the door. Seen these on ebay.

I think that Pantera STILL looks good, even smashed like that! It looks like something out of MAD MAX that took some lumps and is not to be messed with!

Guys, I will pass along your help and advice to Andrew. I'm sure this has not been an easy decision, and may still not be a final one. I think you have a good point Michael. I wonder if the car could be straightened JUST enough to drive around intimidating people. That would be kind of fun, but rather a b*tch to wax! ID

Sad truth is (or maybe not so sad in this case...) he might be further ahead financially to part out the car and do as you all suggest, especially with so many reasonably priced Panteras still around.

Mark, what about a clean chassis? Why not use all his goodies on a clean body. pan4680 has a nice rolling chassis, not to mention a chassis on ebay within the last month that was ready for paint. He can bring life to another deserving car and retain some of his original car as well. My 2 cents

Mark, that sounds like the best idea so far. He would be surrounded with donor parts from his old car! Paint it black, and there you go!

If he does the transplant surgery himself, he may even pocket some money in the end.

Does Canadian Andrew still own it? I thought it got sold? I'm pretty sure you're looking at $75,000 to $100,000 here. It depends if you want to replace sheetmetal or just fill it with Bondo.

A good rolling chassis is another good Pantera. Who strips down a Pantera to sell for parts if the "main chassis" is still good?
