I was using a Ford Dura-Spark II distributor and module, and was pleased with it. Some time back, the vacuum advance canister developed a leak and was replaced. Ford no longer carries this part, and the replacement I used was a NAPA # VC965. Sometime later hard starting, rough idle, and misfiring developed. I traced the problem to the distributor cap, which had erosion of the insulating material off to the side of each terminal inside. Turns out, the length of the arm on the replacement vacuum advance canister is shorter than the original, causing the rotor tip not to be adjacent to the cap terminals at the moment of firing.
Can anyone advise me of the correct vacuum advance canister to use with the Dura-Spark II distributor?
