Exhaust fumes in the car.??...

That is not a commonly cited problem for Panteras. Do you have any idea where it might be coming from? Any rust holes? Firewall holes/boots (shifter, throttle cable, AC lines, cover) in good shape? The only unsealed hole I can think of is the rocker panel where the wiring loom goes thru to the engine compartment?

On another front, is the exhaust system leaking anywhere?

I'll snoop around some more... I just put a throttle cable on it so I'm sure that is sealed up. I think I should check the shift boot, that could be a source....

I'll second the question about an exhaust leak.. I've never had fumes entering the car, and if your exhaust system isn't compromised the gas ought to go out the muffler far from the interior.

Do you get popping on trailing throttle?

The car runs pretty good, alittle rich but runs good. I don't hear any exhaust leaks thumping and the donut seals look good... No odd sounds at any throttle position at any time... I can tell you, after breathing paint and exhaust around the garage for many years, I can pick it up a mile away. It seems to be present when I am slowing down... Thanks for any help you guys....

Well, I would like to drive faster, but I usually lean on 2nd, 3rd and shift around 4K.. This car burns alittle oil, hence the rich problem.. I'll have to keep looking...

Just to be sure, it's the boot where it goes through the bulkhead.

I only had problems with fumes when my car was running way too rich .. not sure of the technical reason ... but I;m sure it has something to do with the air density of the rich exhaust fumes and low pressure of the cabin is why it always ended up choking me .. I leaned it out a bit and the problem was gone.
