Hi Everyone,

I recently came a cross a complete FMX 400 engine. From the research I have done, I've learned that at one point these engines were quite desirable to Pantera owners since they had the small block bell housing pattern that can bolt up to the ZF transaxle. Can anyone tell me if this is still the case or have people moved away from these engines?

Regards,

Tom

You have kInd of a curiosity. Stock bore or already at 0.030"-over? Trying to sell ANY 40+ yr-old OEM thin-wall Ford block will be difficult without running a cylinder wall thickness test on all 8 cylinders, at both top & bottom. And as posted, the motor mounts are big-block type so need adapters, and being a tall block, common Pantera exhaust headers will be up too high & may run into the fuel tank heat shield unless altered. Some Pantera guys have done this (more Mustangers, I think) but FMX blocks are rare and not a drop in adaption.
