Hi All,
I'm looking for someone who uses or has some knowledge of Fontana Blocks.I called him today and had a very good talk,he knows engines. I'd like to stay with cast iron, but so far I havn't been able to find a good cleveland block.I've even gone so far as to buy a sonic tester. It seems that the blocks I've checked so far are all thin in the two right front cylinders.Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Guy

Joe Fontana has been around forever. He says that he has more of his aluminum blocks in Mustangs & Panteras than he does in dirt-trackers, these days. There's even one running just fine in Norway, in a GT-5. The Fontana is a combination of Cleveland (main bearing sizes) and Windsor (oiling system & cams). It uses a custom front cover, though; you can't use a 351-W front cover. All the other accessories are Windsor. Either Windsor or Cleveland heads fit but a 351-C intake won't unless you select the low-deck block. It saves about 60 lbs and costs about $4000 including the 4-bolt main caps; the front cover costs another $150, I think. It can be bored & stroked to 440 cubic inches and can cope with over 800 horses on alcohol without blowing up.
I like the idea of a Aluminum Block but does the Fontana Block mount to the stock Mounting Positions or do you have to Make modifications to the CrossMember and or other mods or is A drop in Conversion for the 351C
