This exceptional, rare, rust free, 37500 mile 1971 DeTomaso Pantera VIN THPNLS01850 has been owned since Jan 1977. The car was purchased and licensed in Florida, then imported, safety certified and licensed in Toronto, Canada in August 1977. It was stored from 1985 until mid-2019 when it was fully refurbished (mechanically and cosmetically – underbody and exterior) over a 3 year period for road use and low additional cost risk for a buyer. The car is finished in Ferrari Rosso Corsa 322 (racing red) and accident free since acquisition. The OEM interior is as new. Power is provided by the original unmodified Ford 351ci 330 HP Cleveland V8 paired with a refurbished ZF five-speed manual transaxle. Refurbishing included:  removing, inspecting, cleaning, and resealing the engine including replacing parts such as the harmonic balancer / water / fuel and oil pumps / points with PerTronix Electronic Ignitor & SMC Blue Streak ignition coil; rebuilding the gearbox and carburetor; cleaning and sealing the fuel tank; overhauling the braking system including a new master cylinder and flex lines; replacing the clutch slave cylinder; converting the air-conditioning system to R134A; installing an aluminum radiator / battery / tires; replacing window motor plastic gears and steering rack bushing with brass; cleaning / applying rust reformer and painting the underbody; sanding / priming / painting the exterior; commissioning a safety inspection and certification; and more as detailed in the attached photos and in a two page Vehicle Refurbishing  History document which is available upon request and details maintenance / repairs and refurbishing work from 1977 to current.  New equipment also includes a Hall Pantera big-bore exhaust system, a Panasonic AM/FM/cassette stereo, clutch, AC compressor, refinished original 15” Campagnolo wheels, Euro style polished stainless steel front bumpers and re-chromed rear bumpers. This Pantera is now offered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with a Pantera Technical Information book, records since 1977, a flash drive of pre-during–post refurbishing photos, a 1977 bill of sale, 1977 to current parts / service receipts, safety certification, original removed parts (i.e. Goodyear Arriva tires, Becker Europa AM/FM stereo radio, radiator, York AC compressor, new clutch master cylinder), and transferable Ontario registration. The price if this 100% refurbished (mechanical and cosmetic), which is low to no added cost risk to a buyer, for a mostly original '71 Pantera is USD110K. On Bring A Trailer in the last week of June a '72 modified red Pantera sold for 110K and on July 2 a blue '72 with 22K and mostly original like mine was bid to 110K but did not meet reserve and on July 11 another ’72 blue modified Pantera with a number of issues sold for 108K plus 5K BaT buyers fee. This Pantera is better than those Panteras bid on or sold on BaT and is also better than a '71 Lime Green Pantera that was bid up to 108K on BaT in Jan and is now listed on Hemmings for 120K and there is no buyers fee per a live or online auctions.

You should list it on BaT, everyone thinks there Pantera is better than the other guys, let the bidders decide! Why does it have late model front turn signal pods int he valance, this year and VIN# would have had the turn signals integrated into the bumperette?

Just a pet peeve, but why do folks put a late model exhaust on an early model, this would looks o much better with the Ansa style up swept exhaust.

Joules, thanks for your comments on my posting.
The front body pan is either the Euro version which was offered in the early '72's and probably in some of the late '71 models sold in Europe or was put on by the previous owner. I do not know why the front body pan from the rubber bumper era cars was put on but I do prefer the appearance as the the turn signal lights that are integrated into the bumperettes look like an after thought and take away from the front end sleekness and styling. The car has not been modified since it was purchased from a Tennessee car dealer in Jan 1977. The body pan can be changed by a purist buyer and is available from Wikinson Pantera in California. The chrome bumpers with the integrated turn signal lights may be difficult to source. The black fibre glass versions are available but they look cheap and do not suit the car as does replacing the chrome trim with black or painting the trim black to hide imperfections as per what a dealer or flipper would do.
As for the big bore Hall Pantera exhaust system vs the angled Ansa it becomes a matter of styling or originality vs sound and performance as there is a 1/2" difference in the exhaust pipe diameters and less restriction in the mufflers. The angled Ansa exhaust (not the straight Ansa used on the rubber bumper cars) can be sourced again from Wilkinson as can the OEM cast iron exhaust manifold so a purist looking for 100% originality can get it without too much added cost. Note: The intake manifold and carburetor are original on my Pantera as I did not take the cheap route of replacing the carb with a Holley or some other new carb version. The cost to rebuild the OEM carb was more than buying an aftermarket replacement. Most if not all of the Panteras being sold have replacements carbs and most have the screens cut or modified to accommodate those carbs.
The Pantera will be put on BaT when the timing is right (i.e. after the big live car auctions in Jan such as Barrett Jackson and Mecum). The cosmetic refurbishment (exterior and underbody) removed any negatives about the car so there is really nothing that a buyer or critic can pick at other than the front body pan and exhaust system. The car was posted on Detomaso Forums as I wanted to expose the car first to those who are likely looking for a keeper (not a flip opportunity although it is live auction ready) and are knowledgeable about Panteras and can appreciate the refurbishment work that has been done on the car and how that minimizes any add on cost risk post purchase.
I appreciate your comments.
