Hi Ray, I asked my mechanic buddy about this and his response was there's a small installation problem because the fuel pressure must be increased, which requires another fuel pump. New vehicles usually have a primary fuel pump in the pressurized fuel tank, and another secondary booster fuel pump, usually mounted along the frame of the vehicle. Both are electric fuel pumps, and require a bit more pressure measured at the throttle body. Call me, you got my number. I'll put you in touch with him and I'm sure he'll be happy to give you all the finer points which I'm not qualified to answer.... But to take out the gas tank, you gotta take out the engine. He'll know if there's another way. We're in the loop with the local drag racers.

He was saying that it makes the engine run crisper, and responds more quickly, but does not increase top horsepower. It gives you better gas milage on top of better responsiveness though. See ya!!
Oh yeah, one other thing. As Jack DeRyke was talking about under the topic of 'Fuel Pumps' today, if you do this Fuel Injection modification, make sure you never run out of gasoline. When I've let vehicles run out of gas in the past, it was always just a short time later that I had to install a new primary fuel pump INSIDE THE GAS TANK. This means draining the fuel, pulling the tank, and replacing the fuel pump. BUT IN A PANTERA YOU ALSO GOTTA PULL THE ENGINE TO GET TO THE GAS TANK. So, never run out of gas if the fuel injection install is done. And if you do it, I want a ride in your Pantera, cause I've been thinking about this also. There's a really neat set up I've seen advertized in Pantera International with computerized mapping for programming the fuel injectors, they said it 'clicks' a little, but really improves crispness. Pulls like a ton of bricks off the line.... Looks like a Webber set-up, with individual stacks (velocity tubes) available in low-rise or hi-rise, way cool. $8K to $10K cool. That and my 6-speed ZF when I hit the lottery....
I like your idea with a Ford item maybe available from an auto salvage yard. Keep in touch, and say hi to the local Pantera guys.... I'll catch up with you when my poly-graphite bushings are installed in a couple of weeks. - Ron
Ray, your question intrigues me: the 351-Cleveland went out of official production in the U.S. in mid-1973. There never WAS a fuel injection system that fit a Cleveland. What you may be thinking of is the throttle body units on 351-Windsor trucks. These will not fit unless you do some adapting as the Windsor intake is too wide for a Cleveland block. A for the multipoint units, they were for a 5 liter Ford and again, won't fit without adaption. In this case the intakes are too narrow for the 351-C. Maybe you saw that beautiful adaption of an injected 5.0 Mustang engine into a black So-Cal Mangusta? All the injected 351-C Panteras I'm aware of use either Dennis Quellas Weber-look-alike system, or are totally custom such as the dual 454 Chev truck throttle-bodies side-mounted on a Magneson- blown stroker.
