Just received the latest Summit catalog. It lists a "New" product, aluminum 351 Cleveland block. Really surprised and pleased to see this. And maybe it will bring forth additional Ford racing products for the CLE.

From the Summit listing:

"These Ford Racing 351 aluminum wet or dry sump race engine blocks feature cast iron sleeves, an all-aluminum water jacket, and oil galley plugs. They are manufactured from 356-T7 aluminum and feature siamesed cylinder bores, a 9.400 in. deck height, 4-bolt main journals with steel billet main caps, and 2.75 in. diameter main journals. At just 124 lbs., the Ford Racing 351 aluminum wet or dry sump engine blocks save a tremendous amount of weight over a standard cast iron block. The blocks will accept a standard wet or dry sump oiling system. Build a reliable, durable, high-horsepower engine with one of these Ford Racing 351 aluminum wet or dry sump engine blocks."

Okay George, a new project for you ?

The block in the picture is a 351W block, or a 351 SVO block. Its not a Cleveland block, the spec for a 9.4" deck is a total mystery to me, perhaps a typo error. The Cleveland is 9.2", the Windsor is 9.5".

Referring to the block's picture, observe:
(1) the lack of a timing chain cavity
(2) the lack of an "in-block" thermostat
(3) the shape of the rear tappet valley cover seal

As Mark (ehpantera) has stated, Tim Meyer has taken over the Buttermore block project. By the way, he has renamed the Buttermore block as the "Track Boss Block". The Cleveland is definitely a niche market in this day, and has been for a long time. Tim has invested big dollars in a machining center for the 351C block, in other words he invested a huge sum of money in a niche market.

Tim is going forward at full steam with the "Track Boss Block" project, he has invested heavily in the project, and I expect to see blocks produced in 2016! Seeing this block into production has been a long gruesome process for me. Thanks to Tim there's light at the end of the tunnel. This makes him a hero in my eyes. I hope folks who are owners of 351C powered cars will support Tim in anyway they can.
