I am going to replace the gas tank sending unit on my early 71 (1386) because the existing unit was repaired and is not linear. I ordered a new unit from a well known Pantera supplier but the one I received does not have the switch to light the low fuel warning light on my gauge. My question for fellow Pantera owners is do you have a low fuel warning light on your car and if so does it work? I am wondering if it is possible or worth it to find a sending unit with the low fuel level switch. Any insight would be appreciated.

The only non-Pantera fuel tank sender I've ever seen thats close is from the early '70s Alfa Romeo, and it has no low-fuel light circuit either. It also has a shorter float arm but this may be replaceable. Do you still have your OEM sender? The low light circuit should still be operable even if the fuel windings have been messed with. Using a VOM and a battery charger as a 12V source, you ought to be able to trace things out and let the rest of us know. I'd be interested as yours is not the first time this subject has come up.
