I got caught up in the excitement of being in a group buy of a set of these bumperettes to replace the L rubber bumper.   I now realized I did not think this mod all the way through.

Of the post and articles on PanteraPlace relate to installing similar bumperettes, no one describes mounting them so they are more than bright trim on sheet metal. 

I would like some discussion about how to install so they do provide a little bumper function if possible.

The Ford parts book illustration of the mounting of the preL looks like there may be bolting to the frame

The small bumpers on my 72 Pre L bolt directly to the body with a few welded on studs that go through the body and are held with fender washers and small nuts so they are more looks than function. Your metal body will most likely have body & paint damage if they make contact with something.
