Who's car ?
Its a great looking car, but if someone is not really knowlegable at cars would look at it they would not know what kind of car it is.
No "DeTomaso" & "Pantera" scipt on the back.
The Detomaso insignia is missing from the front bumper.
No Ghia label on the front side panels.
Its as if they didn't want anyone to know what kind of car it is.
Why would you remove them?
Tom
George is a well respected racer here since the 60's, pretty much a local legend. He has a lot of mainland racing connections. His engine is a professionally done pro-stock build with the crank and rods from a top fuel/funny car manufacturer. Heads were worked over, custom made headers, roller cam, and many other custom made parts by mainland professionals. The car was running on methanol until converted back to gas for this auction. His car us a time capsule, he was a Pantera leader in Hawaii in the 70's and when the fad here died out, it was covered and put in the back of his shop seeing daylight very seldom.

Looks like it's well executed, even if not the current style.

So Dennis, do you plan to add George's Pantera to your growing collection? If you ship your Goose to me, I'll store it for you to make room for George's car in your garage. Big Grin

I can't afford George's Pantera. The goose has been going through a light restore. I have come to the conclusion that this car hates me. In fact I have named her "Christine". It has fought me the entire way and I have been rewarded for my labor in cut, scraped and crushed body parts. I've been paying in blood for my efforts and I am seriously considering parting company with her when I'm done. Then again, maybe its just frustration for the moment.
The first day of the auction passed today. Slow and no bidding. If you were shopping for a deal and had some cash, this was the place to be. There was talk about this Kruse auction advertising that mainland bidders would be present and none were seen. Sellers paid $500 to have their cars offered at this auction and only locals were seen bidding, not the market they were looking for. Many of the cars went home with pitifully low or no bids. Hmm, $100,000 just for listing fees and 12% commission on sales, no wonder the auction is making money. Many of the not so popular models were on the block today, the popular one go on tomorrow, we'll see if things change and if mainland bidders show up.
