I am 16 years old my father past away and i got his car, a 1972 (or 1971) DeTomaso Pantera. It is in OK condition as far as the body goes, the Transmission is out of the car and was fixed before he past away. The car has been sitting for 5 or more years because he never had time to fix it. I am not sure where to bring it. My mother says "I know we arent going to sell it but i dont want to spend a fortune to fix it!!!" so i have no idea what to do with it. I am moving to San Diego California and was wondering What to do with it. If any of you are located in that area and want to have a look email me at Italianman6287@yahoo.com we wont be there until the beginning of September. Please contact me if you think you could do somthing with it or you know someone who would could work on it cheap.

First of all, very sorry to hear about your father... At the least, you'll think of him when you work on or drive that car...

Where are you now? My suggestion would be for someone qualified to take a look at the car and tell you what would be needed to get it on the road again. If it has been sitting for years, it may in fact cost a fortune to bring back to life as more or less everything will need to be replaced - brake lines, hoses, tires, engine, etc. If it is simply a matter of plugging the engine and transmission back in, then that is a different matter. Someone with more experience with Panteras may be able to help here.

They will also know where to look to see if there is hidden rust - something that can be extremely expensive to fix.

If you tell us where you live, perhaps there is someone nearby who could stop by and give you a hand... (Pantera people tend to do that a lot...)

I don't know your dad but maybe someone on here will recognize the name? if you want to send me or Chuck some pictures that we can get posted so the people on here can see what were talking about that would be good. I would think that the SD. CA. area club members would help you get your project on the road.and i would contact them when you arrive in CA.The tires sound like a good start and the transaxel goes back easy too! If this car has a Texas title (or other) i think you will have to get it running before CA. will issue a title but i'm not sure so find out? call this guy

(San Diego Panteras
Bill Hohnhorst, President (619) 461-5039) THIS PLACE( pantera international) is also a good source of info i'm sure PI has some SD members that
will give you a hand w/the project keep us up to date and let us know what Bill says!

(As of my 1994/1998 Registry)

Everyone SHOULD buy a copy of this registry !

Having your car listed is VERY worthy !

Chuck
