Ford recommended 5 US quarts, that's 4 quarts in the pan (sump for you blokes) and 1 in the filter if you change the filter. It is however prudent to use 6 US quarts rather than 5, to reduce the likelyhood of a dry pan (sump) under spirited driving. The Boss 351 came from the factory with a dipstick calibrated for 6 quarts, even though the oil pan (sump) was the same as that used on other Clevelands. The extra quart will not hurt a thing, even the factory did it.

1 US quart = .946 liter

6 US quarts = 5.676 liter

writing about these liquid measurements has made me thirsty for a pint!

So George,our pantera's have the same oil pans as regular mustang's?For some reason I thought the pantera's was different.Now it makes sense.
