While you are at it on the A/C system, there are a LOT of areas that you can upgrade and/or need to replace, especially if you move on to R134a;

R12 or 134 conversion is up for debate, but you certainly want to dump the York compressor (you'll need a readily available conversion mounting plate) in favor of a newer Sanden 508 - NOT the new China street rod knockoff or a rebuilt unit - new barrier hoses are a MUST for 134, Wilkinson has a new evaporator that he says is THE ticket to good cooling, and a new drier with a switch port for trinary switch. A trinary switch incorporates a high/low pressure system to interrupt your compressor clutch power, and thus protect it from damage.

Larry that is great info. I am trying to put a 1974 back together after a jackass stripped it down to sell parts for profit. I have the york compressor and bracket with hoses, but no condensor/shroud/dryer/fan. I would like something close to stock but remanufactured or? Well any ideas will help, thanks a bunch!

Panteras by Wilkinson can probably get you stock pieces, as can many of the other vendors. But trust me, you will pay more for those pieces than for what I installed.

And as you will no doubt learn, in Pantera Land, originality, while prized by a few, is really not a detriment but rather a plus when it comes to enjoying and yes, selling, these cars.
