I found that the one-piece seats were LESS comfortable than the earlier 2-piece seats.I sent early seats to Mike Cook to be rebuilt, re-padded and upholstered in black leather. PPC and Hall also do this, but Mike recountoured the seat crossmember in back for more comfort. The early seat backs attach with 2 side bolts and 2 bolts in back thru straps. I slotted the back straps and added aluminum knobs to the bolts so the seat rake is now adjustable to a degree. We just completed two 9-hour trips to/from 'Vegas with no backaches. The seats now allow my 6'2" body to fit, with a helmet, with no contact on the roof. Readjusted for rake, my 5'4" wife finds the seats comfortable as well (she drove one way, I drove the return).
Hi Jack,
Thanks for your reply.Sloting the back straps is good idea.I have 4 new style seats and one pair the earlier type. The newer seats appear to better made with wire spring bottoms vs. a straw type material on the earlier type.As they now exist the newer type feel nicer but the fact that the backs are not able to be folded foward is definitely a major drawback, especially when trying to remove the back panel.
Thanks again
Vince
