Does anyone have a list of recommended tune up parts - brand, model number, for 1972 Pantera L, 351C. Replacing plugs, points, condenser, cap & rotor, coil, wires, thermostat, etc. Also, do you recommend platinum plugs over conventional?

Autolite/Motorcraft? Not on a track, just driving around town, or out in the countryside.

I can't offer specifics but do not install platinum plugs in your Pantera's Cleveland engine. They are designed for use in a fuel injected engine with tightly controlled fuel delivery and their use in a carbureted car generally is not optimal.

As for a thermostat I trust you are aware that the Cleveland small block uses a unique to itself thermostat not used in other Ford small blocks. If you are not yet aware of what I am speaking of you should do a search on this forum for specifics.

Please do the necessary research on the proper thermostat, as relying on a parts store counter clerk and their parts book has been found to result in a proper to the catalog part being supplied that is not the proper Cleveland thermostat.

If you will post a photo of the thermostat you remove we can comment whether the style is correct for your car. An improper thermostat has often been found to be the culprit in hard to eliminate cooling issues with our Pantera's.
