I am starting my build - 351c D2AE CA that is stock now. Heads are bare set of D3ZE. Have the stock crank and balancer. Looking for a knowledgeable machine shop in Florida. I am about 1 hour S of Tampa. Would like to end up with something around 550HP so am open to suggestions. Thanks for the help. A newbie to this site.

Kuntz & Company.

The proprietor is Jim Kuntz. A well known 351C engine mechanic & racer. His experience and knowledge regarding the 351C are rare in this day and age. His credentials are second to none, his pricing is very fair, he's honest, he won't try to sell you stuff you don't need.

You're going to need something other than the D3ZE head castings. Those heads have the small valves and large 78cc open chambers. I know a couple of guys racing with those heads, they've chosen them for very specific reasons, but I don't think they're a good choice for the average person. I'd suggest the big valve quench chamber heads D0AE or D1AE.
Thanks George all your posts have been very helpful. I was in a quandary about trying to use the heads I have or just going w/ an aluminum aftermarket set up. Thoughts?
Arkansas is a little far for me hoping to find someone closer to home who has some experience in doing some of the things you have talked about. I guess if I end up going aftermarket on the heads the block work is a little easier.
