Momo steering wheel adaptor

I bought my Momo steering wheel and quick release hub from Pantera's by Wilkinson. The quick release hub is really nicely done!

Do you have a picture of it?

This replaces your old hub and is a real nice billet quick release. Here is a picture of it installed.

Rapid, that is absolutely a beautiful wheel set up.
I choose the Momo Team wheel in all black.

It is very similar to your's except it is off center. What I like about that is I measured another 1-1/2" of leg clearance with the 300mm wheel.

SteveWilinson does have the adaptor for it. Funny how he is the only source.

I had that Momo wheel on my other Pantera, also a very nice wheel and you are right it does give a little extra leg room.

I have a Momo stearing wheel signed by Jackie Stewart. Does any one know if that is rare ?

Does anyone know for sure if the original steering wheel on the Pantera is in fact from the 1970 Mercury Capri?

Does that mean that the Pantera uses a 1970 Mercury Capri steering wheel hub spline?

It's the same wheel - don't know about the splines.

I beleive the US Mercury Capri and the European Ford Capri (as pictured by Rapier and affectionately known to us Brits as the 'Crapi') are two different animals.

From what I have learned the German Ford Capri was exported to the US from 1970 to 1977. If you watch enough 1970s US tv shows you will occasionally see one.

The post 1977 US Ford Capri is a different car.

The steering wheel in my 1972 Pantera looks exactly like the one in the picture of the UK model Capri (which is a 1972 3000GT).

Other then the wrong side drive, the picture posted of the Capri is as I remember it here.

The confusion comes when Ford desided to make a US Capri based off of the Mustang platform around 1980.

To the best of my knowledge that is the same time that the
Mustang II was killed and the Mustang reserected.

I tend to think that is 1980 but it is certainly no later then the 1982 model year.

If you look at the picture of that Euro Capri, notice the ignition switch and the switch enclosure. It looks like what I have in my Pantera.

I'll bet that the entire steering column is lifted from the Capri. Maybe they shortened it a bit for the Pantera. Who knows?

The Capri was imported for Lincoln Mercury from Germany for model years 1971 to 1976. There may have been a few 1977's but they were a carryover 1976 with a 77 title. The 1979 thru 1986 (?) Capri was built off the Mustang chassis and pretty much 100% domestic. I have heard (but don't know for sure) that the steering column for the Pantera in the 70's came from the German Capri. The pantera steering wheel looks remarkably similiar to what I remember the 71 to 74 Capri steering wheels looking like. The ignition keys for the Pantera are very similiar to those early Capri keys ( but are definiely different). I would not be surprised to find out that the rack was also early Capri. I got real close to trying a Capri rack but as it turns out did not have to go that route.
