I’ve always viewed the ford 4.6 engines as a little wimpy and have wondered why someone would want to put one in a Pantera. I have a new view of them now. I had to replace my 17 year old Maxima and decided it would be fun to get a new Mustang. The retro looks were attractive but what I didn’t realize is that Ford really did their home work on the 4.6. What a great little V8. That little 300 HP engine will move the 3352 lb Mustang to 60 MPH in 4.9 seconds. Not as powerful as my 351 but the engine is very smooth. My only disappointment is the wide ratio 5 speed.

Know a couple of guy's that have these car's,
went and put the superchargers fom saleen on them and had there computer's flashed, ended up very fast, but mileage dropped to approx 14mpg.
Initally thought the gears were to low but once the Engine power was kicked up with the additions the wide gears and rear end ratio is good. they did all the ground effects too.

That's pretty sweet in silver! Wow.

I am just starting to get used to the retro look. I got my SVT Cobra in '99 and always thought they got it right then with the IRS. It's a fantastic handling car.

This 4.6 is now supercharged and intercooled. I did the gears, chips and injectors. It's lowered with bigger wheels and a beefed up suspension to handle the HP a little better.

It used to be a lot faster than my cat ...used to be. Roll Eyes

David,

Great work on your Mustang! It is amazing how huge the physical sizes of these engines are considering their small CI.

I was waiting for the 2010s but after the reveal in November I decided to grab a 09 while there were some left. This is the only one in the Southeast that had the features I wanted so I was lucky to get it.
