Hi everybody,
I'm in my first week of Pantera ownership having just purchase #5423 from the guy who has owned it since 1978 and did an amazing restoration job on the car. I've wanted a Pantera since the first time I saw one in the late 70's and the planets aligned for me on this one.
I've really gotten a lot out of the site already so thanks to all who have contributed.
Cheers,

-John

I registered quite a while ago but I seem to remember some  Pantera  info that must be submitted  and an approval requirement,

Correct. To encourage submittals to the registry Chuck requires a new VIN be registered. This does NOT have to be your car. Can be any DeTomaso, even something as simple as a "For Sale" advertisement. As long as the VIN isn't already in the registry you're set. Replies from the administrator have been slow due to a backlog so be patient.

The plans for the car are to replace the drooping headliner (kit already order from Hall), sort out the non working A/C. It was working when I picked it up but on my first ride the hose going to the condenser failed and lost all its R12

I also need to sort out a timing/detonation problem. Car has a freshly rebuilt engine with some very top shelf components, custom CompCams cam, roller rockers, big Wilkinson headers, QuickFuel HR780VS carb but I get a fair amount of knocking between 2k and 3K RPM if I'm not careful. Feels like I need to work on the advance curve though I haven't checked where the timing is now.

I've removed the 20 year old badly installed cassette deck (DIN mount) and speakers and am looking at creative ways to close up the holes both in the dash and the doors.
Does anyone know of a source for vinyl that would match the dash and doors?

I've also ordered a Pantera Electronics fuse panel upgrade as I have bad memories of those plastic/tin fuses from my childhood.

Thanks David, that's perfect. I'll order some of that material.
Timing shouldn't be an issue since the motor is freshly rebuilt with all new components e.g. balancer. I haven't taken the engine cover off yet though, the shop that did most of the work is going to take a look (on the awesome seller's dime no less).

The dash is easy. The cars did not come with a radio from the factory. There is a radio delete plate available from multiple vendors. This is the ad from Pantera International Mostorsports.
