Correct. To encourage submittals to the registry Chuck requires a new VIN be registered. This does NOT have to be your car. Can be any DeTomaso, even something as simple as a "For Sale" advertisement. As long as the VIN isn't already in the registry you're set. Replies from the administrator have been slow due to a backlog so be patient.

Thanks. Anxious to see what's up there. PO was a super nice guy. Never intended to sell the car but construction project went a little sideways so here I am. I kinda feel like I've inherited money I don't deserve. I DID change the passenger valve cover gasket today so I feel like I've been hazed.

The plans for the car are to replace the drooping headliner (kit already order from Hall), sort out the non working A/C. It was working when I picked it up but on my first ride the hose going to the condenser failed and lost all its R12

I also need to sort out a timing/detonation problem. Car has a freshly rebuilt engine with some very top shelf components, custom CompCams cam, roller rockers, big Wilkinson headers, QuickFuel HR780VS carb but I get a fair amount of knocking between 2k and 3K RPM if I'm not careful. Feels like I need to work on the advance curve though I haven't checked where the timing is now.

I've removed the 20 year old badly installed cassette deck (DIN mount) and speakers and am looking at creative ways to close up the holes both in the dash and the doors.
Does anyone know of a source for vinyl that would match the dash and doors?

I've also ordered a Pantera Electronics fuse panel upgrade as I have bad memories of those plastic/tin fuses from my childhood.

Re: timing - be aware, if you have the original crank damper, the outer timing ring can come detached from the inner rubber ring, potentially causing wildly inaccurate timing or worse!

Thanks David, that's perfect. I'll order some of that material.
Timing shouldn't be an issue since the motor is freshly rebuilt with all new components e.g. balancer. I haven't taken the engine cover off yet though, the shop that did most of the work is going to take a look (on the awesome seller's dime no less).

The dash is easy. The cars did not come with a radio from the factory. There is a radio delete plate available from multiple vendors. This is the ad from Pantera International Mostorsports.

Thanks. I have the factory blanking plate but it's smaller than the DIN hole so I need to somehow make it larger. I'm thinking of a frame around the plate wrapped in factory-looking vinyl. Or maybe I stick some gauges in there.
