I can see that it was already repainted. That is suprising that it would need that based on the low mileage.
Glad to see someone getting it out and on the road!

The original color was white. I guess the owner didn't like it so he painted it silver/black somewhere around 1974. Probably seen a GTS in those colors. I don't know what color I am going to paint it yet. The car still had three of the original tires on it, all dry rotted. but still holding air. I purchased the 8 & 10 inch Campys on Ebay. I will probably get 17 inch Campy clones to run on it but I wanted to have the original Campys to go with it. Lots of little things to do on it.

Welcome Jake. Dang that car musta been packed in cosmoline to be looking so good after all these years.

It looks pretty nice as is. There are lots of folks on this board who think silver is THE colour for a Pantera.

Are those Hoosier race tires? Where are you located and where did you find such a nice car?

Not to nitpick but the original wheels were 7 and 8 inch. Great find. I second Mark's post to drive it for a while. Enjoy.

Ford imported 5200 Panteras into the US, not including Canada. Lets say 1000 have been lost to accidents & neglect. Another 1500 can be accounted for between the membership of POCA & Pantera International. That leaves 2700 Panteras sitting in storage in the US. Jake has proven my point. My friends, there are plenty of Panteras out there, sitting in storage, waiting to be discovered and returned to the road.

George, I think your 1000 figure for neglectic or destroyed car is low.

A side note to this subject, I'm at the Ford dealer last week looking at the second GT I needed to repair for them, and one of the young techs ask me "don't you have a Pantera?" we get to talking, he tells me his uncle in Mich. gave him a 73 Pantera, and it's only missing the motor. All he has to do is pay for shipping the car to CA. I'll keep you posted on this one.

I do agree that there are cars to be had, just not as many as there used to be, and thats fine by me.

Thanks for welcoming me to the Pantera community. I have always been a sports car nut and have owned mostly foreign sports cars. British, German and italian cars have all been in my stable at one time or another. I currently have a '75 Porsche 914, '81 Porsche 928, '85 Porsche 928 and a '97 Corvette in the stable with the '72 Pantera. I think I will be getting rid of some of the other cars so I can spend more time with the Pantera. It begs to be driven.

Being a sports car nut, I am always checking ads in print and on the Internet. I lucked out on the Pantera and found it via the Internet. I immediately called the owner and told him to hold it that I would be there the next day to look at it. I looked it over for a couple hours and didn't dicker on the price. Just said I'll take it. I will not lose any money on this purchase..I intend do drive it every chance I get and since I am in the northeast, thats only from April - November..Gott move somewhere warmer!
