I am getting a slight oil leak on this plug shown in the link below. It is right at the bottom of the oil pan (on the front), so I figure it may be for the oil temp gauge. I was going to change the oil through the usual drain plug and so in that process I was thinking of dealing with this leak here as well while I have the car on the lift. I was just going to try and tighten it somewhat, but just noticed it has some sealer on the threads, so that may not be a good idea? Maybe take it out, clean it and put on whatever that sealer may be and screw back in? http://www.poca.com/index.php/...g2_imageViewsIndex=1

Definitely a temp sending unit. It looks like a VDO. I also have a oil tem unit in the same location on my Armando(?) oil pan. It looks like whoever put it on there used liquid silicon. Mine leaks a little too. VDO doesn't recommend putting sealer on the threads so I didn't use any on mine so it leaks. I'm too chicken to tighten the unit too much fearing I might strip it. It's a tapered pipe thread so you should be able to crank it tight but I'm not taking any chances Smiler
It is probably Permatex Thread seal paste. Take the sensor out, clean and recoat with same or teflon tape. Let the Permatex cure for 24 hours before refilling with oil.

This supposes that the leak is around the pipe threads. If it is coming from around the black part of the sensor body, then you might have to replace it to cure the leak.
