Open Lapping at Race City Speedway in Calgary

Hello all.

With some recent new speed laws in some parts of Canada, I have become increasingly reserved when it comes to driving my cat on public roads. This really means that I'm not having as much fun in my Pantera as I have had in the past ...

So, to address this situation and give myself an outlet to drive how I like (and how our cars deserve to be driven), I signed up for a Formula Driving School here in Calgary last Friday.

Here are two videos to highlight my day:

Formula Renault Car #68 ... I'm in the black helmet pursuing into the carousel turn and then passing on the straight;

and #3528 starting out of the pits and hitting 215 km/h on the mile-long straight.

Super, SUPER fun! I can't wait to book some more track time some day ... and (perhaps) to get into Formula Ford racing?

Your P car sounds terrific!!
Running on the race track is awesome fun, no looking in the mirrors for those blue and red lights.

Erik, you spend entirely too much time having fun. Did I mention that you're my idol?

Too bad you couldn't make our tech weekend but I guess learning how to be a race car driver is a good excuse!

Mark, like I said ... you guys made me so jealous I HAD to do it!!!

Russ, they did video all the sessions. I guess it takes their tech some time to compile all the vid - and they also provide a program that breaks down your second-by-second telemetry. That should be interesting!

David, I've done some research and Formula Ford/Renault isn't too expensive to get into. Maintenance costs are the x-factor ... and finding good tracks that aren't too far away.

I should mention that the Formula car only hit 170 km/h on the straight. So, the Pantera kicked its ass ... but the corners were an entirely different story (read: the F car is 450kg).
