For any of you using one of the swank Optima specific battery hold downs, how does it attach to the car? It looks like it is a top and a bottom, but its gotta mount to the car someway?
Mine is mounted with four counter sunk screws going through the bottom of the Optima battery mount through the front trunk floor in the stock location.
Be carefull if you go this route as there are lots of wires you could drill through in the passenger compartment footwell.
Panteras already have enough wiring problems without creating more
How did you go about making sure you didn't? Frankly the bling is nice, but that long factory bar holding down the short modern battery just doesn't seem right. That's more my reason.
I'll have to look when I get home I'm thinking that the relays might have been mounted on a panel that dropped down a little. I think two bolts where in this area and the other two where under by the steering rack no wires there. This is a two man install My holder looks similar to this
That Optima battery hold-down certainly looks cool. As far as the relay kit goes, it's from PCNC member Rich Boschert. He sells them for something like $50 or $60 dollars, and they come with complete easy to follow instructions, a laminated wiring diagram, and a laminated legend for your fusebox.
Thanks Garth. Mark, I'll have to take a look as I'd really like to use that mount. As I've just started really working on the car, I need to look at junk, can't do it from memory. So, the second person is under the car watching for wires and then tightening?
I bought it at a speed shop in So. San Francisco named Gotelli. You might want to give them a call. I liked the small billit hold down on top better than the one that covers the entire battery. Phone 650-589-8616
