This has been discussed before. A couple issues were mentioned. First, it won't fit under the stock engine cover (if you intend to use it) and second, and more critical, is how to get air in. To get effective air flow the scoop has to be around 4" from the surface of the car. The "elephant ear" scoops sold by vendors fill this requirement but they are only held in by the window gasket and are prone to "disengaging" from the car at speed.

Why hasn't anyone ever tried to take those plastic covers off behind the windows and make scoops there?? Is it too difficult to get under the opening to run ducts to the air cleaner??
Yes, you need bat ears to really work. With ducting to that location, anything else risks starving the engine at speed since unless you stick out into the air stream you could find youself in a negative air flow situation under load.
That "can't be good".
DT a few people have built scoops over the gills but I haven't heard of any that were for performance, just looks.
The bat ears were developed by the "factory".
Anything that looks that silly has to work. Like the ad says about Smuckers, with a name like that, it has to be good.
The air box is made by the company cited by "Panther" at the beginning of this topic in 4/30/05. www.ramairbox.com

I'm afraid people mix two issues when it comes to air for the Pantera's motor. Cold air is one issue, ram air is a separate issue. The Pantera runs just fine, as is, without ram air. It does not need ram air, or elephant ears, or any such contrivance. However, for every 10 degrees
F you drop the temperature of the intake air, you raise the power of the motor 1%. You do not need elephant ears to achieve this, just a duct that is flush with the body of the car, located anywhere where it will not be drawing in warm air heated by the engine compartment. It makes not one bit of difference if it is out of a high pressure zone. In fact, I'll guarantee you that any duct flush on the side of the body, will provide higher air pressure to feed the motor than the typical round air filter assembly drawing air from atop the motor, as the area of the Pantera behind the passenger compartment is a low pressure zone.

Ram air is a good thing, especially for a vehicle traveling over 100 mph. However it is far less important of a consideration compared to cold air.
